Just 2 generations ago, domestic carpet cleaning equipment was jokingly called ‘Wifey’ whereas the domestic maintenance was called ‘Hubby’. It’s still pretty much that way today, and although a lot of men have become more domesticated around the home, their female counterparts have not bothered to become handier with the maintenance jobs. 7 times out of 10, you wouldn’t get a woman, any woman, doing deep cleaning jobs using industrial strength chemicals, let alone find her near electrical equipment such as drills, power washers, electric screwdrivers and the like. We’ve seen the ‘new man’ but we still seem to be waiting for the ‘new woman’ to emerge!

Men nowadays can often be seen pushing a mob, cleaning cloth, or feather duster over the home’s surfaces while the wife lays on the couch flicking through 50 channels of repeats on the TV.

Daily living and overall lifestyle roles have certainly changed for men but not for the better. They have changed for women too, not because of what the now do, but because of what they don’t do!
