Plaid Futon Covers: Dos and Don’ts for Designing around Plaid

If you have plaid futon covers that you would love to use but have no idea how to make it “fit” your room, then here are several tips that can help you out with your designing dilemma.
Plaids and floral designs go together. This is probably because both are considered traditional designs – the kind that you typically see in country manors and cottages. Anything that has a rustic or very cozy feel to it is sure to complete futon covers with plaid designs.

Solid colors can emphasize the beauty of plaid futon covers. Plaid covers are, by nature, colorful since they have to be made of at least three different shades. By choosing solid colors for the rest of the room, you can make your plaid-covered futon into the room’s centerpiece.

Do not use plaid all over the room. It is okay to have plaid-designed furniture or decor here and there in the room. It just shows that you have a preference for plaids. But do not use plaid for the entire room. That would be overdoing it and turn plaids into an oppressively and overpoweringly unattractive design.
