Daily living, for most, consists of waking up, having breakfast, going to work, coming home, having dinner, relaxing in front of the telly, going to bed, and repeating the same ole, same ole routine over and over again for a lifetime. That’s not to say that there’s anything wrong with this lifestyle, and many families are grateful to have it, but if there’s one thing that we all need is a space we can call home. This place is usually focussed around the living room, and the more we love this hub in the house, the better we get to feel and function as people. The theme of your living room reflects who you are as an individual or family unit, and if it’s wrong, or incompatible with you, then the harmony in your home may be somewhat disrupted.
Home decor is personal, and that includes the furniture, the colour scheme, the fixtures, fittings, and room decorations, as in wall hangings and ornaments. Something a subtle as the colours you use to decorate living room skirting boards and door frames can really say a lot about the people who reside in the house, as can the way in which your windows are adorned, the carpets you chose, the paper you hang, the lighting hue of the bulbs that have been chosen.
An English man’s home is his castle, as the saying goes, but if you ever get to feeling that your home is more of an investment rather than a home, or just a place to stay as opposed to a place to live, then maybe you want to either change location, or change the theme of your spaces. A home should be your sanctuary, is yours?
